Nextrition, an independently owned cold-pressed dog food company, is expanding from direct-to-consumer online sales into retail distribution through a new partnership with SLA Brands, a pet industry brokerage firm.
Founded in 2022 by pet food industry veteran Jim Reimann, Nextrition has been selling its cold-pressed dog food online since 2023. The company said its patent-pending manufacturing process uses low heat to preserve nutrients, flavor and aroma while supporting easier digestion. The retail expansion is slated to begin in select independent pet specialty stores throughout 2026.
"Our goal has always been to make truly better nutrition more accessible," said Jim Reimann, founder and president of Nextrition. "Partnering with SLA Brands allows us to bring cold-pressed innovation to independent pet specialty stores and the passionate pet parents who shop there."
Cold-pressed dog food is produced without high heat or steam, a process the company said helps retain nutrients, vitamins and minerals that can be lost during conventional kibble manufacturing. Unlike fresh or raw formats, the product is shelf-stable and requires no refrigeration.
Nextrition built its manufacturing operation from the ground up, with the company citing food safety and quality control as central priorities in that process.
The brand currently offers complete and balanced recipes in chicken, salmon, beef and lamb varieties, available at nextritionpet.com and through independent pet specialty retail locations later this year.
