Chewy Inc. has relaunched Chewy Claus, its annual holiday letter-writing campaign, and this year every letter submitted will help fund free pet adoptions at shelters across the U.S.
Letters can be submitted Nov. 2 through Dec. 24. Chewy will cover adoption fees at hundreds of participating shelters Dec. 11-17 in partnership with Greater Good Charities. The campaign will also continue sending holiday gifts to pets, as it has since its launch.
According to Chewy, millions of pets have written to Chewy Claus over the past four years, and finding a permanent home has been one of the most common wishes. Nearly 7.5 million cats and dogs are projected to enter shelters in 2026, according to the company.
The campaign is highlighting Raybans, a shy dog in foster care with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in Washington who has waited 578 days for adoption. Raybans does best with another confident dog in the home. Chewy Claus will provide food, toys, treats and veterinary care to support his transition to an adoptive home.
“Chewy Claus has always been about making the holidays more magical for pets and the people who love them, but this year, we’re giving that magic an even bigger purpose,” said Melissa Bell, chief brand officer at Chewy. “By turning every letter into an opportunity to help a shelter pet find a family, we’re inviting pet parents to make a meaningful difference. We’re proud to make this our biggest Chewy Claus yet and show how one little letter can make a big impact.”
Chewy will also bring the Chewy Claus Dream Express to Miami and Los Angeles. At each stop, pet owners can connect with a local shelter, meet adoptable pets, write a letter to Chewy Claus and pack a welcome home kit. The Dream Express will also deliver supplies to local shelters in each city.
The campaign includes the first national TV spot for Chewy Claus, along with in-person events, paid and social media, and influencer outreach.
For every purchase from Chewy’s Holiday Shop, Chewy will donate $5 in food and supplies to Greater Good Charities for pets in need, up to $10 million.
