An analysis of the Dog and Cat Food Ingredient Center database examined the use of carrot in pet foods. Carrots appear in 47 percent of canned dog food recipes. For canned cat food, 26 percent of recipes feature carrots.

Dogs find carrots highly palatable, according to the analysis. Carrots even serve as treats for some dogs.
