Mars Petcare’s headquarters may move to a new building in Williamson County, Tennessee, USA reported the Nashville Business Journal. Real estate sources told the Business Journal that Mars is looking for approximately 200,000 square feet of office space. A lack of available space to rent may necessitate the construction of a new building to meet Mars’ space needs.

Mars currently employs nearly 1,000 people in its pet food division headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, according to the Business Journal, with another 700 employee in the rest of the state, including at facilities in Chattanooga, Lebanon and Cleveland, Tennessee.

The current corporate headquarters of Mars in Franklin contains 126,000 square feet of space, located at 315 Cool Springs Blvd.

Approximately 15 minutes from the Cool Springs location, Mars opened a Global Innovation Center in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, which opened in October, 2014. The center joined Mars Petcare Global Innovation Centers located in Verden, Germany and Aimargues, France. The center focuses on dry cat and dog food in both the natural and mainstream pet food categories.

The center includes a product development center, pet feeding center and learning center. The center has space for up to 180 dogs and 120 cats.
