Do you have insights to share with petfood industry professionals?

If you have new research findings, deep knowledge or experience on a specific aspect of petfood manufacturing or marketing, why not share it with your peers in the petfood industry? Consider submitting an abstract to present at Petfood Forum 2014 or Petfood Forum Asia 2014.

If you have new research findings, deep knowledge or experience on a specific aspect of petfood manufacturing or marketing, why not share it with your peers in the petfood industry? Consider submitting an abstract to present at Petfood Forum 2014 or Petfood Forum Asia 2014.

For Petfood Forum 2014, scheduled for March 31-April 2 at the Renaissance Schaumburg near Chicago, Illinois, USA, sharing your knowledge and insights could take the form of an oral presentation or -- if you're less than enthusiastic about public speaking -- a research poster. Abstracts are due September 16, just a little more than a month away.

An oral presentation is the only option for Petfood Forum Asia 2014, a one-day conference on April 9 that will be co-located with Victam Asia 2014, one of the largest agri-feed trade shows in the world, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre. The deadline for submission of these abstracts is October 1.

The Petfood Forum conferences are a growing group of events, exclusive to the petfood industry, that span the globe. Petfood Forum in the US is an annual conference; Petfood Forum Asia occurs every two years (even-numbered years) in Bangkok. We also have the new, now annual Petfood Forum China conference in Shanghai, held in partnership with Pet Fair Asia, a pet retail trade show. Petfood Forum Europe currently occurs every four years (odd-numbered years), also co-located with Victam; it will next be held in June 2015 in Cologne, Germany.

For all these conferences, especially the annual one in the US, we are always looking for fresh perspectives and voices from our industry or related ones, like pet retail or human food. Specific to petfood, we're seeking new information, insights or best practices in the global and domestic markets; nutrition, formulation and ingredients; petfood safety and regulatory updates; processing; new product development; marketing, including the use of social media; and packaging. Case studies in any of these areas are always popular with the industry audience.

Detailed call for papers guidelines are available for both Petfood Forum 2014 and Petfood Forum Asia 2014. In both cases, these are just submission guidelines, not hard and fast rules, except for three factors:

  • Presence of new or innovative information, concepts or research; originality is key, so please be sure your abstract gives a good idea of how your topic is unique and/or based on new research findings or work not found elsewhere.
  • Lack of commercialism; an abstract cannot seem at all promotional for any company, product or person.
  • Evidence of previous public speaking experience (a list of previous speaking engagements is sufficient).

You can email your submissions (or questions) to me. Don't forget, the deadline for Petfood Forum 2014 is September 16; for Petfood Forum Asia 2014, it's October 1. I hope to see submissions pouring in soon!
