J.M. Smucker’s pet food and treat net sales decreased US$42.2 million, or 9%, in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025.
This decline was related to a decrease in sales for dog snacks and lower contract manufacturing sales. Smucker sold part of that division to Post Holdings in 2023. Smucker divested its private label dry pet food business in 2021.
However, cat food sales increased and offset some of this decline. Despite the sales decline, Smucker’s pet segment profit increased US$7.3 million.
Smucker’s U.S. retail pet food sales for the three months ended Jan. 31 stood at US$423 million. During the same period in FY24, Smucker’s pet segment had US$465.2 million in sales.
