Assisi Pet Care has acquired Devon-based natural pet food manufacturer Forthglade for an undisclosed sum, according to news reports.
Forthglade, founded in 1971 and headquartered in Okehampton, specializes in minimally processed wet and dry dog food and natural treats. The company operates a manufacturing facility in Okehampton and distributes through grocery retailers, independent pet stores and online channels.
European private equity firm IK Partners acquired a majority stake in Forthglade in August 2020 through its IK Small Cap II Fund. Under chief executive David Cox, Forthglade doubled revenues during IK's ownership and expanded its production capacity and digital commerce platform.
In the year to Sept. 30, 2025, Forthglade Foods Ltd. reported turnover of £39.5 million (US$50.2 million), up from just under £37.1 million (US$47.1 million) a year earlier, while EBITDA increased from £3.7 million (US$4.7 million) to £4.7 million (US$6 million).
London-based Assisi's acquisition adds Forthglade to its existing portfolio of brands, including Burns Pet Nutrition, acquired in 2023, along with Hollings, HiLife, Maced, Pet Munchies, Yakers and NAW.
Assisi has manufacturing facilities in the U.K. and Poland and sells its brands in 60 countries, serving specialist pet, grocery and e-commerce operators across Europe. The company is backed by U.S. private equity firm Wind Point Partners, which acquired the group in 2023.
