Golden Pet Brands, the parent company of Dr. Marty Pets, Badlands Ranch and Ultimate Pet Nutrition, is preparing for a potential initial public offering in New York, according to Reuters.

The El Segundo, California-based pet food company has selected investment banks including Morgan Stanley and Barclays to work on the potential offering, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The offering could take place as soon as this year and value Golden Pet Brands at more than $1 billion.

Morgan Stanley and Barclays declined to comment to Reuters. Golden Pet Brands did not immediately respond to the news organization’s request for comment. The company has not publicly confirmed the potential offering, its timing or a proposed valuation, reported Reuters.

Reuters reported Golden Pet Brands' potential offering comes as several consumer businesses pursue public listings. The news organization also identified Canadian pet food company Open Farm among businesses preparing for a potential initial public offering.

Golden Pet Brands has not publicly disclosed a proposed offering size, share price, stock exchange, ticker symbol or filing timeline.

Golden Pet Brands was launched in 2017 by Golden Hippo, a brand incubator and marketing company, and was later spun out as an independent, employee-owned company. The company describes itself as a vertically integrated pet nutrition business with three brands and two U.S. manufacturing facilities.

The company produces freeze-dried raw and air-dried pet foods, treats and supplements. Its portfolio includes Dr. Marty Pets, which offers freeze-dried raw dog and cat foods and treats; Badlands Ranch, which offers air-dried dog food and treats; and Ultimate Pet Nutrition, which offers freeze-dried raw food and supplements.

Golden Pet Brands expanded its manufacturing operations in 2026 with the acquisition of the former Petsource pet food production facility in Seward, Nebraska, reported Petfood Industry.

The 170,000-square-foot facility became Golden Pet Brands' second U.S. manufacturing location and is expected to produce pet food and treats exclusively for the company's brands, including Dr. Marty Pets and Ultimate Pet Nutrition. Approximately 100 Petsource employees joined Golden Pet Brands as part of the transaction, reported Petfood Industry.

The company also operates a manufacturing facility in Germantown, Wisconsin. Golden Pet Brands said the Wisconsin operation employed more than 400 people as of May, reported Petfood Industry.

The Nebraska acquisition followed changes in Golden Pet Brands' executive leadership. The company appointed Apu Mody as chief executive officer and John Meloun as chief financial officer, reported Petfood Industry.

Mody previously held leadership positions at Mars, Procter & Gamble and Del Monte Foods. Meloun previously served as chief financial officer of Xponential Fitness, reported Petfood Industry.

Golden Pet Brands sells its products through direct-to-consumer channels as well as independent pet retailers, national pet specialty retailers and online retailers. According to the company, its brands are available through Petco, Chewy and Amazon, although distribution varies by brand.
