Shepherd Boy Farms plans to build a 100,000-square-foot freeze-dried pet food production facility in Greensburg, Indiana, U.S. The US$50 million investment will triple the company's manufacturing capacity and create 50 jobs.

The family-owned manufacturer produces freeze-dried dog and cat food and treats. Combined with its existing facility, the company's total output will exceed 20 million pounds of freeze-dried pet food annually, said Ashton Hood, founder and CEO of Shepherd Boy Farms.

"Shepherd Boy Farms was built on the belief that pets deserve the same quality of nutrition as family," said Hood. "We've been co-manufacturing since the beginning -- it's in our DNA. This expansion allows us to serve more pet parents and brand partners around the world who are looking for natural, nutrient-dense options they can trust, made in the USA."

The new facility will feature dicing equipment and proprietary freeze-drying technology, along with Individual quick freezing capabilities. The company offers co-manufacturing and private label services from formulation through packaging.

Shepherd Boy Farms' product line includes freeze-dried raw goat's milk sourced from pasture-fed goats raised in the U.S. The company said its freeze-drying process preserves up to 97% of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and probiotics. Products include beef, bison, chicken, cod, pork, turkey, kangaroo, salmon, whitefish, tuna, alligator, minnows, duck, goat milk, fruits and vegetables, and a cat line.

The company, celebrating its 10th anniversary, distributes products through Chewy, Amazon and ShepherdBoyFarms.com.

"Shepherd Boy Farms is proud to represent American innovation in the pet nutrition space," said Hood. "Our new facility is not only an investment in our growth, but in the health and happiness of pets everywhere."
