The sun shone on the opening day of the 38th edition of French agricultural trade show SPACE. The annual event held this year from September 17th-19th, saw a strong turnout and was thankfully free from the demonstrations that have too often interrupted previous editions.

With over 1,200 exhibitors, over 90,000 visitors are expected over the three days of the event to learn about the latest developments in both products and services across agricultural sectors.

Shining stars

As in previous years, the 2024 edition has been accompanied by an awards scheme, Innov’Space, and, as ever, this year saw a strong showing across sectors.

Where poultry is concerned the two most highly recognized products were for a device designed to decontaminate raw materials contaminated with Salmonella and a laser device for use to deter wild birds. The latter, perhaps particularly relevant as the avian influenza once again approaches in Europe.

A whole host of other entrants to the scheme, however, ware also recognized, ranging from initiatives for greater inclusion of marginalized groups into the agricultural workforce through to precision farming and mite control.

While there was plenty of business to be done, the event was not without its fun side and this year a new show mascot was seen walking between the exhibition halls.
