Bravo recalls select chicken pet foods due to Salmonella

Bravo Pet Foods is recalling select lots of chicken pet dog and cat foods due to the potential that these pet food products may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Bravo Pet Foods is recalling select lots of chicken pet dog and cat foods due to the potential that these pet food products may be contaminated with Salmonella. The pet food recall was initiated after routine testing by the New York, USA, State Department of Agriculture found the presence of Salmonella spp. Poly A contamination. 

The following product is being voluntarily recalled because of the possible presence of Salmonella: 

  • Bravo Blend Chicken diet for dogs and cats - 2 lb. chub/ item # 21-102/ "Best used by 12-05-16"/ UPC 829546211028

A total of 105 cases of the Bravo Blend Chicken diet product were sold to distributors, retail stores, internet retailers and directly to consumers in the US. 

The following products did not test positive for Salmonella, but are also being voluntarily recalled out of caution because the products were manufactured in the same facility, on the same day, as the product that tested positive:

  • Bravo Balance Chicken dinner for dogs - 3 lb. bag of patties/ item # 21-401/ "Best used by 12-05-16"/ UPC 829546214012
  • Bravo Balance Chicken dinner for dogs - 2 lb. chub/ item # 21-402/ "Best used by 12-05-16"/ UPC 829546214029
  • Bravo Blend Chicken diet for dogs and cats - 5 lb. bag of patties/ item # 21-508/ "Best used by 12-05-16"/ UPC 829546215088

Consumers should dispose of the products and return to the place of purchase for a refund.
