Fromm Family Foods, of Mequon, Wisconsin, U.S., is recalling 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet canned dog food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté Wet canned dog food due to potential metal contamination.
Dogs that ingest metal may show symptoms including choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy or stomach discomfort, according to the company. Metal of any size, especially sharp pieces, can cause serious health issues in dogs, including lacerations in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract. Metal consumed in large amounts can lead to gastrointestinal upset, partial blockage and a risk of intestinal obstruction. Consumers whose dogs have eaten the affected product and are showing these symptoms should contact their veterinarian.
Consumers should stop feeding the products to their dogs.

To date, there have been no reports of illness or injury related to the recalled products.
No other Fromm products are affected by the recall. The company said the recall was initiated after it received complaints of metal contamination, and that it has identified the error and put corrective actions in place, in addition to its existing safety processes, to prevent a recurrence.
Consumers who purchased Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food or Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté Wet Dog Food with a Best By date of 032029 are urged to return the product to their retailer.
