
Northwest Naturals of Portland, Oregon, U.S., is voluntarily recalling 53 cases (1,272 pounds) of Northwest Naturals Frozen Chicken Recipe cat food, sold in 2-pound bags, and 19 cases (684 pounds) of Northwest Naturals Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe, sold in 6-pound bags. The recall covers two specific lots due to possible Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the recall.
The contamination was identified after product samples were collected and tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Frozen Chicken Recipe tested positive for Salmonella, and the Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella.
The recalled products were distributed to retail stores nationwide.
