Foodynamics is voluntarily recalling specific lots of Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats and Kanu Pets brand freeze-dried pet treats due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall affects products shipped to retailers in Wisconsin, New York and Florida, with seven total packages distributed to consumers in these areas.

The recall involves four Raw Dog Barkery products packaged in 3-ounce and 16-ounce sizes, two BellePepper Cats products and one Kanu Pets product. All recalled items are freeze-dried chicken heart treats with specific use-by dates and lot numbers printed on product labels.

Raw Dog Barkery recalled products include Whole Chicken Hearts (use-by dates 030527 and 040217) and Sliced Chicken Hearts (use-by date 031627). BellePepper Cats recalled items include Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Slices (use-by date 031627) and unpackaged sample treats (lot numbers 121426 and 011526). The Kanu Pets recall involves Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Raw Treats (use-by date 031627).

Foodynamics traced 100% of product distribution within hours of the recall notice and contacted all direct customers. No adverse health effects have been reported in pets or humans to date.

"Foodynamics has ceased the production and distribution of the product while it works with the FDA to continue its investigation into what caused the problem," the company stated.

The recall resulted from FDA sampling that revealed Salmonella presence. Salmonella can affect animals consuming contaminated products and poses risks to humans handling the products, particularly if hands are not thoroughly washed after contact.

Foodynamics contacted all retailers that purchased the affected products with instructions to immediately examine inventory and quarantine recalled items. Retailers will receive refunds for all recalled products. Consumers should immediately return recalled products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
