Foodynamics has issued a corrected voluntary recall of specific lots of Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, Kanu Pets and What's In the Bowl brand freeze-dried pet treats due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall affects eight packages distributed to retailers in Wisconsin, New York and Florida.
The correction addresses errors in a previous press release, where three packages were incorrectly identified as Raw Dog Barkery branded products when they were distributed as What's in the Bowl products. The earlier release also included a lot number that was not distributed to consumers.
The recalled products include:
Raw Dog Barkery Treats for Cats and Dogs Freeze Dried
- Whole Chicken Hearts, 16 oz., lot 030527
What's In the Bowl
- Whole Chicken Hearts, 3 oz. and 16 oz., lot 030527
BellePepper Cats
- Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Slices, 3 oz., lot 031627
- Freeze Dried Sample Treats (unpackaged and unlabeled), 0.1 oz., lots 121426 and 011526
Kanu Pets
- Freeze Dried Chicken Heart Raw Treats, 3 oz., lot 031627
Foodynamics has traced 100% of product distribution and contacted all direct customers. No adverse health effects have been reported in pets or humans to date. Two packages of Raw Dog Barkery products were distributed to SimplyDried Treats and Magpies Gourmet Dog Treats in Wisconsin. Three What's In The Bowl packages were sold by a retailer in Delafield, Wisconsin, with two of the three packages returned by customers. BellePepper Cats products were sold by a retailer in New York and has contacted the two affected customers. Kanu Pets products were sold by a retailer in Florida.
The recall resulted from FDA sampling, which revealed the presence of Salmonella. Foodynamics has ceased production and distribution of the products while working with the FDA to investigate the cause.
The company has contacted all retailers that purchased these products and instructed them to examine inventory and quarantine all recalled products. Retailers will receive refunds for all recalled products. Consumers should immediately return recalled products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
