The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) extended the comment period for its draft compliance policy guide regarding Salmonella in animal feed.

FDA will now accept comments on the guide until December 31. FDA's compliance guide proposes, “Certain criteria should be considered in recommending enforcement action against animal feed or feed ingredients that are adulterated due to the presence of Salmonella.” The guide was announced in August as a way to provide direction to FDA staff for dealing with Salmonella in animal feed or feed ingredients that come into direct contact with people, such as petfood and treats.

Comments to FDA may be submitted online.
