UK-based Inspired Pet Nutrition (IPN) has agreed to acquire Sopral, a French premium dry pet food manufacturer, pending regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sopral operates from a 13,400-square-meter manufacturing facility in Pléchâtel, Brittany, and produces premium dry pet food under the Pro-Nutrition Prestige, Pure Life and Protect brands. The company employs over 130 people and distributes products to more than 50 countries globally, with established operations in France and growing online and international sales channels.
The acquisition adds European manufacturing capabilities to IPN's portfolio, which includes UK brands Harringtons, Butcher's and Wagg, along with premium brands Aatu, Barking Heads and Meowing Heads. IPN previously acquired Pet Food UK in 2021 and wet pet food manufacturer Butcher's Pet Care in August 2024.

Sopral's facility features advanced research and development capabilities alongside its manufacturing operations. The company has built a reputation for high-quality nutritional solutions in the European pet food market.
The transaction represents IPN's fourth acquisition since 2020, as the company continues expanding its manufacturing footprint and brand portfolio across the UK and European markets.
According to Petfood Industry's Top Companies, Inspired Pet Nutrition (formerly Wagg Foods) is the U.K.’s largest independent producer of dry pet food. Based in Pléchâtel, Brittany, France, Sopral's dry pet foods are sold in more than 50 countries.
