Representatives from Petfood Industry magazine have announced that Petfood Innovation Workshop and Kansas State University’s Pet Food Experiencewill once again collaborate for a second annual joint event. This multi-day experience will take place on September 13-15, 2016 on Kansas State University’s main campus in Manhattan, Kansas. Attendees can expect both seminar-style educational sessions, as well as hands-on activities and demonstrations. Registration is now open and expected to sell out quickly, as there are a limited number of registrations to offer to ensure quality of the workshop activities and seating in the research sessions.

Similar to the spring edition of Petfood Innovation Workshop, the September version will focus on the creation of high-impact pet food products, featuring meat and novel proteins, but with some variations in the selection of presenters and activities. The Pet Food Experience component is hosted by the Kansas State Pet Food Program Team, and utilizes student volunteers as well as facilities within the community. During the Pet Food Experience, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts as they present their latest research and insight on various topics. Specific details on educational sessions will be released soon.

There are a number of new features to debut at this year’s event, such as the opportunity to conduct job or internship interviews with students in the new Kansas State University Career Center. This year’s agenda will also differentiate from last year’s as the workshop segment will take place the day after the Pet Food Experience’s educational sessions and activities. On Wednesday evening, guests can opt to participate in a dine-around event, as an additional opportunity to engage with industry peers at various local restaurants. This year’s event aims to infuse attendees with the K-State college experience, while simultaneously providing valuable educational and networking opportunities.

“The April edition of Petfood Innovation Workshop sold out months in advance for the second consecutive year, as the chance to participate in a hands-on opportunity to create high-impact pet food products is a unique experience” said Steve Akins, Vice President/Publisher Global Petfood at WATT Global Media. “We’re hoping those who missed attending the spring event will take advantage of the chance to come this fall, with the added benefit of receiving all that the Kansas State Pet Food Program has to offer, the chance to hear new research presentations and interact with students from the university.”

The spring Petfood Innovation Workshop: Meat and Novel Proteins was the 1-day opener for the Petfood Forum 2016 conference and exhibition, the leading annual event serving the global pet food and pet treat manufacturing industry. Petfood Forum 2017 will again locate at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Mo. for its 25th anniversary edition on April 3-5, 2017.

The Pet Food Program at Kansas State University was started in 2012 and has established degree programs, short courses, and research concerning pet food and nutrition. Kansas State University is a public teaching and research institution founded in 1863 and located in Manhattan, KS.
