Jack Hanna, animal advocate, to open Petfood Forum 2018

Hanna’s achievements include directing the Columbus Zoo, hosting TV programs and operating a pet shop.

Jack Hanna, conservationist and television personality, will present the opening keynote for Petfood Forum 2018 on April 24 in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Hanna’s achievements include directing the Columbus Zoo, numerous television appearances, hosting the Emmy-Award-winning television series “Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild,” along with other programs, and operating a pet shop in his early career.

Hanna will share his insights into the animal world and detail his globetrotting experiences. The presentation will also include a mix of video clips and inspirational stories that deal with issues of conservation, travel and wildlife. Hanna’s presentation will include animals.

“I have loved animals since I was a young boy growing up in Tennessee,” wrote Hanna on his website. “I could never have imagined where my life would take me – and it’s only getting wilder! My hope is that together we can appreciate, value and protect wildlife for generations to come.”

Biography of Jack Hanna

Since he was 11 years old helping out his family’s veterinarian, Hanna has been working with animals. In his early career, he operated a pet shop with his wife, Suzi, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Hanna has a hands-on approach to wildlife and animal-human interactions. He has developed a positive reputation as a conservationist, television personality and author. His most recent TV series, “Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild” and “Jack Hanna’s Wild Countdown,” have won awards and reach nearly 2.5 million households each week. 

Since 1983, Hanna has also made many appearances on TV shows such as “Good Morning America,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Larry King Live,” “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and “The View.”

Formerly director of the Columbus Zoo, Hanna led improvements to the zoo grounds, animal habitats, and staff morale helping to increase attendance and local involvement. He now serves as director emeritus of Columbus Zoo and The Wilds.

Currently, Hanna counts a yellow Labrador Retriever, Tasha, as a member of his family.
