Petnet, a provider of pet owner technologies, has made an integration agreement with Petnostics, a pet health diagnostics company. The agreement means Petnet customers can use Petnostics' health diagnostics technology to help their pets receive the right food.

With this integration, pet owners can make informed food decisions for their pets. Petnet's algorithms already use data on a pet's breed, age, activity and environment and recommend food choices accordingly. Now, with Petnostics health data, owners can also learn if their pets have a health condition that can be improved through diet and adjust their pets' menu accordingly.

How Petnostics technology works

The Petnostics solution is an at-home urine test for dogs and cats. Owners can use one of two screening kits to test for potential health issues. There's a urine test cup for a general screen of pet health. The Petnostics smartphone app scans the cup and displays test results instantly. For pets with chronic conditions like UTI, diabetes or bladder stones, there are disease-specific test strips (the same strips vets use) to monitor these conditions.

The agreement follows Petnet's announcement earlier in 2018 of its next-generation SmartFeeder automatic pet feeder, which is integrated with smart home devices like Amazon Alexa, Nest Cam and Google Assistant. The SmartFeeder brings owners a way to adjust their pet's food and servings to match activity, breed and lifestyle. The Petnet app can guide portion control and make food recommendations specific to the pet.

Petnet's underlying technology analyzes a broad array of data using a variety of algorithms and then turns that intelligence into actionable advice for pet owners. This data-driven, custom-tailored approach gives pet owners insights and advice for shaping a pet's diet.

"If you've ever wished your pet could tell you when something is wrong, this is your answer," said Stephen Chen, founder & CEO at Petnostics. "With our easy-to-use test kits, pet parents can detect conditions early on and work with their veterinarian to prevent them from becoming more serious. You can also monitor existing chronic conditions and be alerted to any changes."
