JRS Rettenmaier and Sons has put into operation a new test center for the pet food business. Above all, novel, customer-oriented solutions for process and recipe improvements with functional plant fiber concentrates are being developed for manufacturers of all types of pet food. JRS’s customers benefit from this unique service and technology advantage: Products can be launched faster and the knowledge of the fiber specialist can be transferred directly to current projects. JRS’s plant fiber products are used to improve the functional properties of a product. Best results are shown e.g. in the context of fat and weight reduction, in dental care or for digestive purposes. With this new service offer, JRS sets itself apart from the competition. For more than 140 years, JRS have been an expert in the production and use of dietary fiber and functional plant fibers in various applications – both for humans and animals.
With demand booming across the pet industry, manufacturers are looking for unique, marketable product features. At the same time, experts are dealing with production, process and cost optimization. This is reflected in the JRS pet food range of services.
“In order to stand up to competition, customer-oriented solutions are becoming increasingly important”, says Peter Graff, JRS Key Account Manager Petfood. With a special focus on these customer-oriented solutions for animal nutrition products, last year a special pilot technical centre tailored to the needs of the industry was set up at the Rosenberg-Holzmühle location. The new “Technical Competence Center Petfood,” as it is called at JRS, is intended primarily for practice-oriented developments as well as recipe and process optimization jointly conducted with the customers benefiting from the functions and properties of JRS fiber products. Particular attention is paid to the specific, detailed optimization of production processes at the customer. JRS offers a wide range of fruit, cereal and cellulose fibers, and recently also alginates, which significantly enhance modern formulations with very different specifications and functional properties. As Peter Graff points out: “Always based on sustainable, renewable and plant-based raw materials. Our JRS slogan reflects that approach: ‘Better. Green. Intelligent.’”
“With the new technical center, specific solutions for specific practical requirements can be developed and tested. This shortens the time to launch new products to pet food manufacturers. Quality and production processes for existing products can also be improved in many cases. Working closely with JRS and developing solutions made-to-measure is what our partners can expect from us.
