Raw pet food brand sues FDA over zero Salmonella policy

The raw pet food manufacturer alleges that the federal policy of zero-tolerance for Salmonella is only a recommendation, yet results in consequences as if it were law.

Lystn, manufacturer of raw pet food brand Answers Pet Food, filed a lawsuit in Colorado federal court to challenge the legality of U.S. Food and Drug Administration enforcement of zero-tolerance Salmonella standards, alleging it is beyond the agency’s powers granted by Congress.
