Tyson Pet Products Inc., a subsidiary of Tyson Foods Inc. , is launching a line of dog chews to be produced at a recently reopened plant in Independence, Iowa, USA.
The company's 100% natural True Chews dog treats will be offered in a variety of different chews such as ham bone, chicken fillet, pork ear and beef bully stick.
"The chews segment of the US pet treat market is a US$1.2 billion business growing at a rate of 8% a year, and we believe there is significant untapped opportunity," said Jeff Webster, group vice president of renewable products for Tyson Foods.
Pet owners want a lot from their pet food brands. They want primary proteins that suit what they believe is best for their animal. They want grains or they don't. They want something customized, but it has to be easy to understand.
Constraints and crises, like those experienced in 2020, help drive innovation and sustainability offers context.
