Modest growth ahead for global poultry industry

The global poultry industry should remain in positive territory in 2024, but its performance will be weak; and risks will be numerous.

With growth in the global economy set to slow in 2024, there can be few sectors that are feeling positive about the year ahead. Where poultry is concerned, however, expansion, at least, is predicted, albeit at low levels.

The global economy is forecast to grow by 2.9% in 2024, down slightly from an estimated 3.0% in 2023, and significantly below 2022’s 3.5%. The latest International Monetary Fund (IMF) figures suggest that growth will slow in advanced economies, falling by 0.1% from this year’s estimated 1.5%, while emerging and developing economies are expected to expand by 4% both this year and next.
