North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine has added a nutrition service for clients. Pet nutrition specialist Dr. Korinn Saker analyzes the nutrients in food and by manipulating a pet's diet she hopes to prolong her client's life. Saker recently joined the faculty at NCSU. In addition to nutritional consultations, Saker is responsible for the diets of all the animals at the university's animal hospital. She also teaches. Right now her graduate students are working on the pomegranate's effect on stopping tumor cell development. The nutritional intervention research on rats and cats may someday help women battling breast cancer.
