P&G adds to recall of Iams dry cat food bags

Procter & Gamble (P&G) recalled additional bags of its Iams Proactive Health Indoor Weight & Hairball Care dry cat food, due to concerns about potential Salmonella contamination. The company reports that the affected product was sold through a single retailer in the following states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) recalled additional bags of its Iams Proactive Health Indoor Weight & Hairball Care dry cat food, due to concerns about potential Salmonella contamination.

The company reports that the affected product was sold through a single retailer in the following states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The recall is limited to the Iams Proactive Health Indoor Weight & Hairball Care cat food sold in blue, 6.8-pound bags. The affected product contains a code date of 02304173 (B1-B6) and a UPC number of 1901403921. According to P&G, the cat food has the "potential" to be tainted with Salmonella.

The company originally reported that three bags of the tainted food were purchased from a store in Loveland, Colorado USA, but now estimates less than 60 bags may have been purchased from stores in the affected states. According to P&G, it has not yet received any reports of illnesses linked to the petfood. Consumers who purchased the recalled cat food should discard it and contact P&G at +1.800.862.3332 for a replacement product.
