The Nutriment Company (TNC),  a provider of premium natural pet food headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, has acquired BAF Petfood, Krefeld, Germany, from Fressnapf, marking another step in the company’s expansion across Europe. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition provides TNC with access to Fressnapf’s extensive retail network, which includes company-owned stores and franchises. BAF Petfood, operating from a 9,000-square-meter facility previously used for human food production, specializes in raw pet food, offering products like sausages, nuggets and flakes.

TNC said Fressnapf and its franchisees will benefit from easier access to its portfolio, which includes brands such as Nutriment, DIBO, Barfgold, and Natural Instinct.

Recent TNC acquisitions

TNC has a portfolio of nearly 20 brands in Europe. TNC has made several acquisitions this year, including a recent purchase of Puromenu in Spain. In January, the company acquired The Dog's Butcher, a UK-based raw dog food brand known for its locally sourced ingredients and wide product range, and Your Pet Nutrition, a UK company in the veterinarian-developed pet supplement space.

In early August 2024, TNC acquired PETMAN, a German raw pet food company. After the previous acquisitions of Dibo, Barfgold, Aniforte and Haustierkost, PETMAN became the fifth pet food company in Germany belonging to TNC. Founded in the 1990s and headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, PETMAN produces raw pet food products for dogs, cats, fish and reptiles.

Later in August 2024, TNC acquired Pet Treats Wholesale, a natural treats manufacturer from the UK. In July 2024, TNC completed the acquisition of raw pet food processor Natural Instinct, based in the UK. And in April 2024, TNC acquired Totally Natural Pet Products, a renowned Scottish raw dog food manufacturer.
