Phillips Pet Food & Supplies has entered a national distribution partnership with Bil-Jac, the family-owned dog food and treat maker.

Bil-Jac's dog food and treats are now available to independent pet retailers through all 10 Phillips Pet distribution centers nationwide, according to the companies.

Retailers can add Bil-Jac to their existing Phillips orders without setting up a new vendor account or arranging separate freight, beyond their standard Phillips terms, the companies said.

"Bil-Jac is exactly the kind of brand independent retailers win with — a genuine heritage story, differentiated manufacturing and generations of loyal customers," said Jessica Morris, chief commercial officer at Phillips Pet Food & Supplies. "By launching Bil-Jac nationally across our entire distribution network, we're making it easy for every retailer we serve to put that story on their shelves."

Bil-Jac was founded in 1947 by brothers Bill and Jack Kelly, World War II veterans, and is headquartered in Medina, Ohio. The company produces its foods in its own U.S. facilities in Ohio and Maryland using a proprietary slow-cooked, small-batch process. Bil-Jac received the first U.S. patent granted for dog food in 1951 and remains family-owned, according to the company. Up to 25 pounds of fresh chicken goes into every 30-pound bag of its Adult Select formula, the company said.

According to the company, Bil-Jac's partnership with America's VetDogs has generated more than $1.25 million to provide assistance dogs to veterans with disabilities and first responders.

Phillips Pet Food & Supplies was founded in 1938 and operates 10 distribution centers across the U.S., serving pet stores, aquatic stores, feed and farm stores, groomers, veterinarians and humane organizations.
