AFIA holds annual meeting

The organization installed new board leadership and directors.

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) board of directors concluded its annual spring meeting in Arlington, Va., where it advocated for key policy priorities affecting the animal food industry on Capitol Hill and conducted official business, including installing new board leadership and directors.

Key Advocacy Efforts:

  • Directors met with over 35 U.S. Senate and House offices
  • Legislative priorities included the Innovative Feed Enhancement and Economic Development Act, the EMIT LESS Act, the Securing American Agriculture Act, the Sound Science for Farmers Act, and the farm bill

Leadership Changes:

  • Outgoing chair, Carlos Gonzalez, Ph.D., was recognized for his leadership. Gonzalez will now serve as chair of the Institute for Feed Education and Research’s (IFEEDER) board of trustees
  • Leigh Ann Sayen, CEO of The Peterson Company, was installed as the new AFIA chair, effective through April 30, 2025
  • Dan Meagher, president and CEO of Novus International, Inc., was named chair-elect for the 2025-26 fiscal year

New Board Appointments:

  • The board confirmed new directors for three-year terms and appointed additional members to the AFIA Executive Committee

Outgoing Members:

  • The AFIA thanked outgoing board members for their service
