MoistTech Corp. will showcase its IR3000-F Series Moisture Sensors at Petfood Forum 2026, April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The sensors use near-infrared (NIR) technology for moisture analysis of pet food products and raw materials.
Moisture content affects the balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats in animal kibble, influencing product uniformity and overall quality. Continuous moisture measurement can also affect productivity and energy use across processing lines.
The IR3000-F sensors arrive pre-calibrated using customer samples and are designed to maintain calibration over time, reducing the need for recalibration and associated downtime. Each sensor can store up to 50 product calibrations, allowing a single unit to handle multiple kibble types.
According to the company, sensor accuracy is not affected by variations in product height, color, ambient temperature or lighting. MoistTech software compensates for small gaps, inert material, foreign objects and conveyor surfaces. A cast aluminum enclosure is designed to dissipate heat, which the company says improves accuracy compared with polished steel housings.
Real-time moisture data enables operators to make process adjustments on the fly. Continuous NIR monitoring also supports control of ovens, dryers, roasters and fryers.
"Consistent moisture control is essential to producing high-quality animal kibble," the company said in a statement, noting that maintaining proper moisture levels helps prevent mold growth and other quality issues.
The IR3000-F is designed for installation into existing production lines without additional hardware or software. Its non-contact design is intended to minimize contamination and maintenance requirements during continuous operation.
The sensor is compatible with wet and dry kibble, fish food pellets, and soft and hard pet foods.
MoistTech will exhibit at booth #2532 at Petfood Forum 2026.
