The North American Renderers Association (NARA) has launched its first-ever scholarship, marking the 3rd annual National Rendering Day with a $2,500 award aimed at students pursuing education in sustainability, agriculture and related fields.
The NARA Rendering Scholarship will recognize one student who demonstrates interest in the rendering industry, which plays a critical role in diverting byproducts from landfills, contributing to pet food and animal feed, and reducing environmental impact across the agricultural supply chain.
“We’re thrilled to announce NARA’s first official scholarship as part of this year’s National Rendering Day,” said Anna Carlson, vice president of communications at NARA. “This initiative reflects our deep commitment to education, sustainability, and to investing in the future of rendering.”
The scholarship is open to high school or college students accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school. While applicants from all academic backgrounds are eligible, NARA especially encourages students in agriculture, environmental science, animal science, food systems, or sustainability-related programs to apply.
Applicants must submit:
- A completed application form (available at nara.org)
- A current transcript
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance
- A 500-word essay responding to: “Why is rendering important in today’s world?”
The deadline for submission is July 28, 2025. All materials must be emailed as a single PDF to [email protected] with the subject line NARA Rendering Scholarship.
