Exopack, a producer of flexible packaging products and engineered coatings, announced that it will close its Seymour, Indiana, USA, manufacturing facility.
Closure of the Seymour plant, which manufactures consumer multiwall flexible packaging products, will result in the elimination of more than 100 jobs at the facility. The company will consolidate its consumer multiwall packaging operations into other plants in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA; Tifton, Georgia, USA; and Sibley, Iowa, USA. The final transition of equipment and business from Seymour to these three sites is scheduled for completion in 60 days.
“This decision was very difficult to make and was only made after close examination of all possible options,” said Chris Ragot, Exopack’s CEO. “The market for consumer multiwall packaging is experiencing an excess in capacity. This consolidation will allow Exopack to remain a competitive participant in this market.”
