Consumers Supply recalls dog biscuits for Salmonella risk

The company is recalling two brands of 4-pound dog biscuit products distributed across seven states.

On December 24, Consumers Supply Distributing of Sioux City, Iowa, U.S., announced it is recalling 4-pound bags of Country Vet Biscuits – Original Meaty Flavor and 4-pound bags of Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits – Meaty Flavor with Chicken due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The recall resulted from a routine FDA sampling program that revealed the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased production and distribution of the lot number as FDA and the company continue investigating the cause.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Heartland Dog Biscuits RecallThe recalled products were sold through retail stores in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Montana and Nebraska.

  • Country Vet Biscuits – Original Meaty Flavor (UPC: 899623000463) comes in a 4-pound bag marked with lot #40906513 on the front and a best by date of 09/06/2026 stamped on the front.
  • Heartland Harvest Dog Biscuits – Meaty Flavor with Chicken (UPC: 840227340691) comes in a 4-pound bag marked with lot #40906513 on the back and a best by date of 09/06/2026 stamped on the back.
