Perfection Pet Foods is donating 400 cases of dog food to the Fulton County Animal Shelter after firefighters discovered over 90 dogs living in one home. Initially called to extinguish a house-fire in Atlanta, Georgia, firefighters quickly contacted the Fulton County Animal Services to rescue the dogs from an apparent hoarding scenario.

While this case is still under investigation, the dogs are receiving the nutrition and medical attention they desperately need.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation of dog food made by Perfection Pet Foods," said LifeLine Public Relations Director Karen Hirsch in a press release. "Their donation plays an important role in supporting our mission to save every healthy and treatable pet in our care."

Additional resources and support are needed to account for such a large intake. Fulton Animal Services is still looking for donations and volunteers.

Other recent pet food donations

Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet foods and accessories, collected pet food and supplies for local homeless animals as part of its annual “Thanks for Giving” collection drive in November 2017, raising a total of US$477,568 in donations – three times the amount that the campaign raised in 2016.

As each Pet Valu store partnered with a local shelter or rescue to be the recipient of their collection, all customer contributions stayed in their respective communities and directly supported local homeless animals.

Other pet food companies are giving back in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and IrmaCaru Pet Food has donated 348 cases of pet food to shelters in need, providing more than 4,000 meals for dogs. The Florida-based company sent donations of their Classic Stews and new Daily Dish Stews to strongly affected areas in Texas, in addition to nearby Florida shelters in their local community. In total, Caru donated over US$14,500 worth of food to rescues in these hurricane-ravaged areas.

The following shelters received food from Caru: San Antonio Humane Society in San Antonio, Texas; Sophie’s Circle in New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County in Vero Beach, Florida. Each of these organizations have been involved in the efforts to support animals in need after the repercussions of recent natural disasters.
