Dogs and their families gathered Sept. 13 for the Whatcom Humane Society's annual Dog Days of Summer, a community celebration centered on pets, animal welfare and the people who care for them.
Held at the Whatcom Humane Society's Division Street location in Bellingham, Washington, the event brought together local pet owners, animal lovers, businesses and organizations for an afternoon of canine games and contests, pet-focused vendors and exhibitors, food, entertainment and activities for dogs and their families.
The event also highlighted the Whatcom Humane Society's year-round work, which includes providing care and services for animals throughout the community, including animals that are abandoned, injured, abused or neglected.
Boss Dog Brand, based in Lynden, Washington, participated in Dog Days of Summer with a donation of food and treats for local pets and animal rescues.
The company donated more than 1,000 bags of Probiotic Dog Food and more than 7,000 cups of Pumpkin Greek Style Frozen Yogurt for dogs and cats, providing thousands of servings of pet food and treats at no cost to the community.
The donated products helped fill freezers belonging to local families and rescues with pet nutrition that could be used beyond the event itself.
"We're a local company, even though our products are sold nationwide, and we wanted to find a way to give back right here in Whatcom County," said Kailey MacLeod, marketing manager of Boss Dog Brand. "Dog Days of Summer brought together so many people who care about animals, and it gave us a great opportunity to put our products directly into the hands of local pet owners and organizations that could use them."
Boss Dog's dog said its food is made with real protein as the first ingredient and limited ingredients, with proteins sourced from farms in the Pacific Northwest. Its recipes feature probiotic-infused nutrition designed to support digestive health and overall pet wellness.
The brand's Greek-style frozen yogurt is a lactose-free frozen treat with probiotics, formulated for dogs and cats.
The donation is part of Boss Nation Cares, Boss Dog's community-focused effort to support pets, pet owners and animal organizations.
