Maev, an Austin, Texas-based dog food company, has received the Clean Label Project Purity Award for its Beef, Chicken and Lamb Whole Ingredient Food recipes.
Founded in 2018, Maev makes whole-ingredient dog food. According to the company, its recipes are made with human-grade ingredients, contain no fillers or preservatives, are formulated by veterinary nutritionists with doctoral degrees and are tested in-house.
The company cited survey data showing 53% of U.S. dog owners say they care more about their dog's nutrition than their own.
"Dog parents are asking more questions about what goes into the bowl and the standards behind it — and rightfully so," said Katie Spies, founder and CEO of Maev. "We built Maev around giving them clear answers: whole ingredients they can see, thoughtful sourcing and formulation and rigorous testing. Clean Label Project is a nonprofit organization that tests finished consumer products for contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticides and plasticizers. The Purity Award is given only to products that rank among the top one-third of those tested in their category.
