Tyson Foods Inc. announced it will spend $6.6 million in renovations and equipment for a plant in Independence, Iowa, USA, with plans to expand its petfood operation by early 2010.

Tyson Foods Inc. announced it will spend US$6.6 million in renovations and equipment for a plant in Independence, Iowa, USA, with plans to expand its petfood operation by early 2010.

Tyson said it will hire about 60 employees when the plant reopens.

According to some industry players, pet food label modernization (PFLM)-related changes are estimated to cost the pet food industry more than $1 billion in updates to comply with the new requirements.
