Kormotech launches the Save Pets of Ukraine initiative

The Save Pets of Ukraine initiative focuses on the problems of pet owners, animal care volunteers and shelters.

Pets are like children. They also need to be saved from the threats and catastrophic consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine. Kormotech has launched the Save Pets of Ukraine initiative, which focuses on the problems of pet owners, animal care volunteers and shelters. These are food, medicine, logistics, etc. A specially created fund helps to solve them. The team is asking for financial and humanitarian assistance from abroad.

On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. The occupiers are destroying infrastructure, schools, hospitals and homes. Hundreds of civilians were killed in Russian artillery shelling and rocket bombings. Thousands wounded. Refugees. Many towns and villages have problems with water, electricity, heat, basic products and medicines.

The hostages of the war are pets that were left without access to food and veterinary services. Many animals are abandoned on the streets, and shelters are on the verge of survival.

Leftover food runs out quickly. Shops cannot operate in dangerous places. According to the company, there are no or minimal number of products. This will provide animals with food for several weeks. However, there is no logistics for delivery of products to the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. This issue needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

Kormotech is coordinating efforts to help and rescue pets. The headquarters identifies needs and helps to cover them physically and informationally. This requires donations from outside. Currently, the company is lobbying for amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Humanitarian Aid" in terms of granting the status of humanitarian aid to Goods for pets. We request the following status for:

  • pet food: cats, dogs, birds, rodents and other pets;
  • other means: collars, leashes, muzzles, cages, carriers;
  • medicines for animals.

This will help to start importing these products as humanitarian aid and save hundreds of thousands of pet lives. The initiative will also highlight the scale of the disaster to increase pressure on pet care players in the Russian industry to end the war.
