Mark Berriman, managing director of Pet Supermarket, based in Jarrow, UK, says the retailer is on track for annual sales of £6 million (US$9.2 million), according to www.nebusiness.co.uk. Pet Supermarket also offers an online store, with a newly relaunched website. The site was originally launched in 2004 and had annual sales of £1.6 million (US$2.5 million) by 2005. In 2009, sales were at £4.3 million (US$6.6 million).
“We have rapidly developed to become the market leader in its sector as a result of forging strategic partnerships with leading manufacturers and offering low priced, high-quality goods," said Berriman. “Year-on-year sales are already up 30% in the first six months of 2010, and we hope we can continue to buck the trend."
The company operates in more than 60 countries and has established relationships with major UK pet product suppliers.
