Zealandia launches pet food in US

Based in New Zealand, the brand's differentiator in the U.S. market is its sustainably sourced proteins from wildlife management programs.

Zealandia has launched a U.S. product line featuring proteins sourced entirely from New Zealand, including wild brushtail possum, wallaby and goat, in addition to beef, chicken, duck and more.

Zealandia Pet Food, a New Zealand-based premium pet nutrition brand, has launched in the U.S. with a product line featuring proteins sourced from licensed New Zealand wildlife and agricultural management programs.

The U.S. line includes wild brushtail possum, wallaby and goat — species recognized in New Zealand for their effects on native flora, fauna and marine ecosystems — alongside beef, chicken, duck, hoki fish, king salmon, lamb and venison. The brand says its model is designed to support population management efforts for invasive and overabundant species while sourcing outside conventional livestock farming.

"Our approach is simple: nourish pets while contributing to a healthier ecosystem," said Andrew Burch, director at Zealandia Pet Food. "By sourcing proteins that are already part of environmental management programs in New Zealand, we're able to create premium nutrition with a purpose."

All Zealandia products are manufactured in New Zealand and formulated to meet complete and balanced nutrition standards for cats and dogs, using animal proteins and minimal processing, according to the company.

U.S. distribution is available to retailers through John A. Van Den Bosch in the Midwest. Products are also available to consumers through Chewy.com.
