Natural Balance launched five new products at Global Pet Expo in Orlando, including updated wet food recipes for dogs and cats, breed-specific offerings and a functional treat line targeting digestive health.
Freshly Cooked pouches
The brand is introducing an updated Freshly Cooked wet dog food line in shelf-stable pouches, available in three complete and balanced recipes: Tender Carrot, Potato & Beef; Harvest Chicken & White Rice; and Savory Duck & Pumpkin. Recipes include tuna oil to deliver guaranteed omega-3 fatty acid levels. The line will replace the current Platefulls offering, with shipping beginning in June.
Freshly Cooked will be available in a 9-ounce pouch and, for the Beef and Chicken recipes, a 16-ounce resealable pouch.
"We know pet parents want high-quality, homestyle food for their dogs, but often find the logistics of refrigerated or frozen options frustrating," said Chelsea Nagaraja, senior director of marketing for Natural Balance. "With the new Freshly Cooked line, we've improved the recipes and updated the name and packaging design to better reflect the needs of pet parents."
Ultra Protein Shreds with organ chunks
Natural Balance is expanding its Ultra Protein cat food lineup — named Cat Food Innovation of the Year in the 2025 Pet Innovation Awards — with a Shreds with Organ Chunks wet format. The new recipes incorporate chicken livers, chicken hearts and, in one variety, quail egg. Available in three recipes: Real Chicken & Quail Egg; Real Chicken & Duck; and Real Salmon & Chicken. The 2.8-ounce cans began shipping in March.
Limited Ingredient Small Breed Cups
The brand is adding a wet format to its Limited Ingredient line for small breed dogs, available in two single-protein recipes: Sweet Potato & Salmon and Lamb & Brown Rice. The 3.5-ounce cups began shipping in January.
"Our expert team of registered veterinary technicians regularly fields questions from pet parents seeking advice about their small breed dog's food sensitivities," said Jennifer Freeman, M.S., RVTg, director of nutritional science with Ethos Pet Brands. "Building on our leadership in limited ingredient nutrition, this new wet food offering deepens our portfolio of solutions and provides a wet format that meets the unique needs of smaller dogs."
Health Protection Large Breed
Natural Balance is adding a dry dog food option to its Health Protection line for dogs weighing more than 60 pounds. The Health Protection Salmon, Brown Rice & Pumpkin recipe includes elevated glucosamine and chondroitin levels for joint support, along with prebiotic fiber and probiotic coating. It is available in a 26-pound bag.
Yo-Gut Bites functional treats
The brand is entering the functional treat segment with Yo-Gut Bites, oven-baked dog treats made with a prebiotic and probiotic blend, fruit and vegetable ingredients, and a Greek yogurt drizzle. Available in three recipes — Oats & Blueberries; Pumpkin & Cranberries; and Peanut Butter & Banana — the treats are baked in the U.S. and available in 4.5-ounce and 10-ounce bags. Shipping began earlier this year.
