Idealist Capital, Sanimax and Fondaction have announced a $58 million strategic investment in Entosystem, a global leader in the production of insect proteins and organic fertilizers for agriculture and animal nutrition. This investment will accelerate Entosystem's growth by enhancing existing production capacity and supporting the construction of a second commercial plant.
Entosystem's innovative technology diverts organic materials from landfills and transforms them into high-quality ingredients, significantly reducing the environmental footprint of food production. The company's Drummondville carbon-negative plant processes 90,000 tons of organic matter annually, producing 5,000 tons of protein meal and 15,000 tons of organic fertilizer. This project has been shown to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 85%, making it a highly sustainable solution that generates carbon credits.
The second plant under development will help Entosystem meet the growing demand for sustainable proteins and organic fertilizers, advancing its position as a leader in ecological food chain solutions.
Cédric Provost, president and co-founder of Entosystem, emphasized the company's rapid progress, stating, “We have all the keys in hand to achieve our ambitions and grow.”
Martial Hamel, CEO of Sanimax, noted that the company's sustainable approach aligns with its mission of creating a greener environment. Steeve Robitaille, co-managing partner at Idealist Capital, highlighted Entosystem’s role in reclaiming organic matter for the food industry, while Claire Bisson, VP at Fondaction, stressed the program's dual impact on reducing food waste and supporting the livestock sector.
Entosystem's continued growth and innovation will further contribute to sustainable agriculture, food production and environmental preservation.
