Petfood Forum Europe, the exclusive conference for the European pet food industry, is announcing its return as an in-person event in Germany, scheduled for May 23, 2022, in Nuremberg, Germany. For the first time, it will be co-located with Interzoo, the leading pet trade fair for the global pet industry, which will take place May 24-27, 2022, in Nuremberg, Germany.

In preparation for Petfood Forum Europe 2022, its content advisory board is seeking abstracts for noncommercial oral presentations, due December 20, 2021.

While Petfood Forum Europe 2022 may include a virtual component in addition to the in-person event, interested speakers should not submit an abstract if they are not sure if they will be able to attend the conference on May 23 in Nuremberg.

Pet food topics of interest

Conference organizers are looking for abstracts highlighting the latest research on companion animal nutrition, novel ingredients, new processing, packaging, safety or testing technologies or protocols. Other topics of interest include data, trends and predictions for the pet food market, global or European; pet food formats; retailing information, including e-commerce; marketing information, including social media; product development; and updates or information on EU regulations of pet food.

Selection criteria for pet food abstracts

An advisory board of pet food industry experts will evaluate all submissions for relevance of topic, presence of new or innovative information, concepts or research — originality is key — and the proposed speaker’s experience or background with the topic.

Each submission will be evaluated on its own merits against these criteria but also in relation to other papers received — for example, it is highly unlikely two papers on the same or a very similar subject would be selected for presentations — and to how many sessions are scheduled for a given topic area.

No abstract will be considered if it seems commercial or if it has been published or presented prior to Petfood Forum Europe 2022. Abstracts similar in title or content to previously presented material should include significant new information.

Submissions will be accepted through December 20, 2021, with selection decisions communicated about six weeks later.

Note: This article has been updated to include the Interzoo information.
