
Net sales for J.M. Smucker’s pet segment decreased US$57.1 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025, or 13%, compared to the same quarter in fiscal year 2024.
Considering the entire fiscal year, Smucker pet food and treat net sales fell to US$1,663.6 in FY25 from US$1,822.8 in FY24. Dog snacks made up 54% of the FY25 sales. Cat food and snacks made up 44%. Divested pet food contract manufacturing were 2%.
Details of Smucker pet segment in FY25
In Q4 FY25, volume/mix decreased net sales by 11 percentage points, primarily driven by a decrease for dog snacks and lower contract manufacturing sales related to the divested pet food brands. Lower net price realization decreased net sales by 2 percentage points, primarily driven by lower net pricing for dog snacks and cat food. Segment profit decreased US$8.0 million, primarily reflecting unfavorable volume mix and lower net price realization, partially offset by lower costs and lower marketing expenses.
U.S. retail pet foods made up 19% of Smucker’s total fiscal year 2025 net sales. Overall for the company, net sales for the quarter were US$2.1 billion, a decrease of US$61.9 million, or 3%. Net sales for the quarter, excluding the divestitures and foreign currency exchange, decreased 1%. For the fiscal year, net sales were US$8.7 billion, an increase of 7%. Net sales, excluding the acquisition, divestitures, and foreign currency exchange, were flat.
