Elite Treats RecallElite Treats of Boca Raton, Florida, U.S., is recalling one lot of its Chicken Chips for Dogs, 6-ounce bags, due to potential Salmonella contamination. The affected product is packaged in a black and gold bag with lot number 24045 and an expiration date of 04/2027.

The recalled product was sold to Florida Hardware, LLC, which distributed to feed stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

The contamination was identified after a third-party laboratory detected Salmonella in a related but commercially unreleased lot of the same product.

Salmonella poses risks to both pets and the people who handle contaminated products or come into contact with pets that have consumed them. Exposure can also occur through contact with surfaces, bowls, utensils or countertops that have touched the product. Risk increases when people do not wash their hands thoroughly after handling the food or after contact with their pet.
