Australian online retailer Pet Circle seeks US pet food suppliers

Pet Circle looking to expand in US.

Pet Circle, Australia’s largest online pet supplies store which recently became a unicorn company valued at over $1 billion, is seeking US pet product suppliers to expand its range.

The online pet retailer currently offers over 10,000 products and is aiming to triple its product range in the next couple of years, with the US being targeted as a key market for supply.

William Roney, head of business management at Pet Circle said: “We see a huge opportunity for growth as the Australian market is currently underdeveloped in terms of pet speciality range compared to other markets across the world. We believe that pets’ needs are not one size fits all and that there are many unmet needs in Australia, so we intend to meet them by sourcing the best products both locally and internationally.”

“We will be building our range dramatically over the next couple of years focusing on growing several categories, especially our premium range of dog and cat food, beds, clothes, technology, training and containment.

“US pet suppliers who have successfully entered the Australian market via Pet Circle recently include Zignature, Open Farm and Playology.”

Pet Circle has experienced significant growth over the past 18 months, with the pet industry now worth $15 billion in Australia. Two thirds of Australian families now own a pet and spend an average of $3,200 per dog and $2,100 per cat per year1, increasingly online.

“Pet Circle has evolved from a pioneer online retailer to a disruptive force in the pet supply industry that is enabling a better experience for pet owners by offering a better range, price and advice,” said Roney.

“We have a strong and loyal active customer base, an innovative bespoke tech stack, a Vet Squad that offers free 24/7 online pet and product advice, an Auto Delivery subscription service, one of the largest dedicated delivery fleets in Australia, and massive warehouses across Australia for distribution, so we believe we have a winning formula to meet all pet and pet parents needs.”

Pet Circle recently secured a $125 million Series C funding round in November 2021, becoming Australia’s latest billion-dollar-valued “unicorn” company. The funding will be used to accelerate Pet Circle’s continued growth including developing its best-in-class software platform, and expanding its warehouse footprint, dedicated fleet and product range.

Pet Circle will be attending the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida, at the end of this month to meet with suppliers. For appointments, please register your interest here
