Due to decreased consumer demand, Mars Petcare is closing its Portland, Indiana, USA, manufacturing plant later this year, according to an article from www.allaboutfeed.net .
The Portland facility, which will eventually lay off 51 employees, produces dog biscuits and package dry pet products under Pedigree, Whiskas and Sheba, according to the article.
"We constantly monitor and evaluate customer and consumer demand for products and adjust our production to meet their needs," Mars Petcare said in a statement.
