The grand opening of the Middleby Protein Innovation Center was celebrated on October 7, 2019. Located at Cozzini LLC, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, the 12,000 square foot center is home to new lines and industry changing equipment introductions, as well as a Middleby kitchen, training center, and authentic period delicatessen.
The innovative culture of Middleby will be fostered in this haven for development with technical performance and product testing. Food scientists and specialized engineers are readily available. This is the third research center for the food processing division. Middleby Bakery Innovation Centers were established in Plano, Texas and Bangalore, India in 2017.
During the opening event, leaders in food production from processing to retail food service discussed the increasing differentiation in protein offerings and the latest advancements. Keynote speakers included specialists in plant based protein, offering sustainable, high quality alternatives to meat. Production on the new Middleby Case Ready Line was one of a number of equipment demonstrations for attendees.
“It was an exciting day to open this protein center for excellence to accelerate industry progress in product development and innovation, as well as help our customers achieve better operating efficiencies,” said Mark Salman, President of the Middleby Food Processing Group.
