The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has added Adam Kay from Tyler Packaging and Joanne Dwyer from PetSmart to its board of directors and elected Stephie Volo from Earth Animal as the 2025 board chair. These leadership changes are designed to expand PSC’s global reach and deepen its impact across the pet food supply chain, the coalition noted.
"Our board plays a critical role in guiding PSC’s strategy and impact," said Jim Lamancusa, CEO and executive director of PSC. "Adam and Joanne bring the expertise, vision, and commitment we need to expand our global reach and deepen our industry influence," said Lamancusa. "We’re excited to welcome them to the team. And having Stephie as our board chair is a dream come true. Her vision, mentorship, and expertise are huge assets to help me guide the organization as well as optimize and engage our board."
Kay, a European packaging supplier board member, will bring an international perspective to PSC’s efforts. As sales and technical director at Tyler Packaging, Kay has led major advancements in sustainable packaging solutions for the pet industry. His expertise will help drive PSC’s strategic initiatives, particularly in sustainable materials and global market engagement, said PSC.
"Driving sustainability within the packaging of petfood is crucial, it’s the first contact consumers have with brands, the global impact of packaging is estimated to be at 300,000,000 pounds annually," he said. "We must drive awareness to brands and consumers that alternatives exist, to avoid this continuing to go to landfill," said Adam Kay.
Dwyer’s role as board secretary and retail representative reinforces the coalition’s commitment to driving sustainability at every level of the industry. Dwyer, the vice president of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility at PetSmart, will provide strategic oversight and help align PSC’s work with the evolving priorities of major retailers.
"I look forward to serving on the board of PSC to increase collaboration across the pet industry —because real change happens when we all work together," she said. "We know pet parents are nature-loving and want to reduce their pet’s impact on the planet. I’m excited to work alongside our retail peers to make it easier for them to take small actions that can advance sustainability and drive change. Whether that’s expanding consumer access to more eco-friendly products and packaging, or facilitating circular models, we need to bridge the gap between niche offerings and mainstream availability."
For her part, Volo said sustainability isn’t just a goal — it’s a responsibility. "As board chair, I’m excited to support PSC’s mission by ensuring we stay focused on impact, accountability, and collaboration," Volo said. "With Adam and Joanne bringing fresh perspectives and deep expertise, we’re in a stronger position than ever to help the pet industry turn bold ideas into real progress."
