Pet Fair Asia 2025 to showcase innovations in Shanghai

Asia's largest pet industry trade show will feature over 2,600 exhibitors including six halls focused on pet nutrition and food products.

Pet Fair Asia 2025 will open August 20-24 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, occupying a record 310,000 square meters and hosting over 2,600 exhibitors from around the world.

The show's 27th edition comes as the global pet industry faces economic uncertainty and challenging trade relations. Pet Fair Asia, however, has maintained double-digit growth in recent years, reinforcing China's position as a key global manufacturing and sourcing hub for the pet sector.

The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce has designated August as "Pet-Friendly Month," with Pet Fair Asia serving as the centerpiece of activities aimed at promoting sustainable growth in China's pet economy.

International participation grows

International companies and brands will occupy two full halls at this year's show, with dedicated pavilions from Japan, New Zealand, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan and the U.S.

Overseas visitor attendance has increased significantly in recent years. In 2024, the show welcomed 124,000 professionals from 91 countries, with international attendees representing 10% of total visitors — a 41.8% increase over 2023.

"We have cooperated for two consecutive years with Pet Fair Asia to bring Malaysian buyers to the show," said Sherman Yeong, secretary of the Malaysia Pet Association and organizer of the Malaysia Delegation at Pet Fair Asia. "This year, we will lead a group of seven members from Malaysia's pet industry. The delegates are eager to explore the latest innovations, discover cutting-edge products, and connect with potential suppliers through a series of business matching activities and site visits arranged by the organizer."

Food and nutrition take center stage

Pet food will occupy six full halls at the 2025 show, making it one of the largest product categories alongside pet products and accessories, which will also fill six halls.

The DISCOVERY zone will feature more than 500 new products launched globally within the past three months, with over 300 exhibitors including established brands and emerging companies. This area will also house the GENIUS HUB, showcasing technology innovations such as gourmet pet food processors.

Expanded focus on specialized segments

For the first time, a complete 15,000-square-meter hall will be dedicated to small animals—one of the show's fastest-growing segments. This area will feature nutrition, health, and wellness products for birds, rabbits, hamsters, fish, and reptiles.

A separate hall will focus exclusively on cats and feline-specific products and experiences.

Supply chain and veterinary components

The co-located Pet Fair Supply will span eight outdoor halls covering 55,000 square meters with over 700 exhibitors — a 30% increase from 2024. Pet Fair Veterinary will occupy two halls (30,000 square meters), featuring more than 700 brands specializing in pet healthcare, veterinary equipment, and medical solutions.
