Chewy Claus to donate up to 16 million meals to shelter pets

The pet product retailer will donate meals and $10 million to shelter animals through its annual holiday program.

The 2025 Chewy Claus season opens with a story that captures the spirit of giving: Dray, the canine companion of Brooke Eby, a Maryland woman living with ALS, wished for one simple joy — to walk beside his mom again.

Chewy has initiated its 2025 Chewy Claus letter-writing campaign, inviting pet owners to submit holiday wish lists for their pets through December 24. The program, which began in 2022, has received more than one million wish submissions from pets nationwide.

For each wish submitted, Chewy Claus will deliver five meals to a pet in need through a partnership with Greater Good Charities, with a maximum of 16 million total meals. Wishes submitted through the Chewy app will generate an additional five meals. Pet owners can also choose to defer receiving a gift and redirect five additional meals to shelter animals.

The initiative is part of Chewy Claus' commitment to donate $10 million to shelter and rescue animals throughout the United States in the form of toys, gear, treats and meals.

Eby can no longer walk her senior rescue dog, Dray, due to her condition. Chewy Claus created a custom leash solution that allows Eby to walk alongside Dray using her wheelchair.

"Dray is seeing me be less and less active, and it's just showing him that I'm still there, still the same leash holder I've always been," said Eby. "This is one less time I have to ask someone to help me do something I used to do by myself multiple times a day in my normal life."

In honor of Eby and Dray, Chewy Claus is donating $10,000 to Team Gleason, an ALS advocacy organization. The donation will support pet owners affected by ALS.

"Chewy Claus celebrates life with pets — from the everyday to the extraordinary. We are especially excited to inspire joy, love, and connection this holiday season," said Orlena Yeung, chief brand officer at Chewy. "Brooke and Dray's story is a touching reminder of how pets transform our lives, and Chewy is profoundly grateful to provide support throughout the highs and lows of pet parenting."

Additional fulfilled wishes will be revealed in coming weeks, including stories of a duck in Detroit and a senior therapy dog outside Chicago.

Pet owners can submit letters to Chewy Claus through the Chewy app or at chewy.com/ChewyClaus through December 24.

Chewy partners with approximately 3,200 pet industry brands and offers approximately 130,000 products and services through its websites and mobile applications.
